Most
of us never have to witness a terrible tragedy like this. But police officers
are faced with similar situations every day.
When
Officer Struck was called to the scene of a fatal car crash, he was greeted by
a scared 2-year-old, alone and in shock. Her family’s SUV was completely
destroyed and the family had been thrown from the car, instantly killing her
father.
Right
away, the Officer Struck’s accessed his fatherly instincts, grabbed the stunned
child and walked away from the crash, trying to think of what he would do if
his daughter was in the situation. In the midst of this heartbreaking scene in
Brighton, Colorado, this kind man pointed to the sky and started to sing
“Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,” in efforts to distract the toddler from what
would be a scaring image.
As
he did this, an onlooker captured this moment and now we can all see a true act
of kindness in action.
While
this video is a wake-up call, it’s a reminder of the difficult jobs that police
officers have, and makes you grateful that there are cops like Officer Struck
protecting us in times like this.
