But
what happens to the babies that aren’t wanted, and end up being birthed
anyways? Well, adoption is one route many people end up taking but that’s not
necessarily even a solution. For example, did you know that each year over
20,000 children age out of the adoption program, because no one wanted them?
Even still, that’s a better option for children than what this young couple
did.
Meet
Justin and Brittany Alston, a 21-year-old couple from Texas who ended up having
a baby together, but that’s the extent their dedication to their child went.
One evening the two decided to host a party at their home when one of their
young guests heard faint cries coming from one of the back rooms and decided to
follow it. When they opened the door they saw something absolutely horrifying
and utterly disgusting – the hosts newborn baby was lying in a pool of vomit,
piss and s***, emaciated to the point that no one was even sure he would
survive.
Named
Riley, the baby was rushed to a hospital by the guest themselves after phoning
in to an adult to figure out the right course of action. When they arrived the
doctors explained just how bleak the situation was, they weren’t sure they were
going to be able to save him. After leaving the newborn on an IV fluid drip for
a while Riley was finally able to put some food down and survived!
As
for the young couple, they were both arrested and questioned by police. If it
wasn’t for these responses they might not have gotten as harsh of sentences as
they did, but you won’t see me complaining about it! According to the sperm and
egg donors the child wasn’t even on their list of priorities, instead smoking
and drinking had taken precedence along with…well, just about anything.
Brittany herself told the cops that getting her oil changed in her car was more
important than feeding her own child! Due to their sheer lack of responsibility
and their cold attitudes, they were both sentenced to 60 years!
Thankfully
Riley has managed not just to survive, but to thrive! After two months in
foster care that malnourished baby is chubby, pink and just as happy as could
be. Some might say that 60 years for the young couple isn’t enough, that their
crimes should keep them behind bars until the day they die, but at the same
time there’s more to this than just a lack of responsibility. Still, there’s no
room for this kind of garbage in 2016, at least that baby is safe.
